Love their work. Took my Ford focus for transmission issues and 100% fixed it. He even fixed my key! Great customer service!
Had multiple problems with my 18 year old car, which I used to service in $$$ dealership for most of that time, but stopped a couple years ago. After a couple years of minimal service (just oil and tires) of course it started to fail. Took it to several places, where they charged a lot, but didn't resolve the main issue (stuttering engine) though each place did fix some important other issues. JJ at AAMCO finally resolved the main issue, for which he charged a reasonable fee. I especially liked his clear explanation and appoach. The others all thought it was probably a slipping transmission issue (even though i had transmission fixed 4 years ago). JJ didn't rule that out based on the description, but took it on a test drive and read the codes and discovered misfiring on cylinder #2. He suspected sparkplug or coil. First replaced the sparkplug (wasn't cheap 'cause labor to get at the back ones) I like that he showed me the corroded original 18 year old sparkplugs he replaced- was convinced that could be the cause. But he also knew it might be the coil, so very cleverl also swapped the coil from failing cylinder #2 to cylinder #5 when replacing all the sparkplug. He knew that if it still fails after putting everything back together, swapping suspect coil when in position cylinder 5 would be cheaper. Long story short, it was the coil, so his ingenious plan to relocate the coil paid off. He also did some other improvements, some for free. I could be wrong but my take is that JJ is good at what he does 'cause he takes well deserved pride in good work. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the other places I went to to resolve this issue are rip offs, they all did some good, but they charged more, and did less. AAMCO at Miramar is head and shoulders above the others I tried, and my 18 year old car is finally working well for the price of a couple new car payments. Thanks a lot for great service. Attached photos show replaced coil from cylinder #2, easily accessible after swapped with the one on cylinder #5. This was the most important fix. Also showing photo of break cylinder that was replaced a year ago after JJ fixed bad mess they left- looking good now. Also showing replaced shock absorbers done by another place, i probably didn't absolutely need this, but dont regret it (drives much btter now), and finally the replaced engine mount- JJ showed me how broken that was before he replaced it. Really glad he showed me. Looks beautiful now!
JJ is the best! Very helpful and really knows his stuff!
